3D ARMORED DIVISION - The Liberation of Kuwait - 1991

On August 2, 1990, Iraq's Saddam Hussein invaded the country state of Kuwait.  Shortly after this act of aggression, President H.W. Bush  responded with the deployment of the 82nd Airborne Division to the region.  This was the beginning of Operation Desert Shield.  Many more US and Coalition units would follow.  When diplomacy failed,  there was the need to move from a defensive posture to one of offense.  Only one more US division was needed for that to happen - the 3rd Armored Division, from Frankfurt, Germany.  This website details the actions of one of the Mechanized Infantry Squads of the Spearhead Division in Operation Desert Storm.
